Running Further In 2015

RunningFurther

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. (‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬ NIV)

Back in biblical times, there was a profound practice in war. When one king would find himself defeated at the hands of another, his appropriate response would be to hand over his sword. It was his way of saying, “You win fair and square! Now all I am and have is at your disposal!”

With his words in Romans 12:1, Paul is painting a similar picture for Christ-Followers. He is essentially telling us, “With His ruthless mercy, God has won you fair and square. With the cross Christ has pinned your sin to the grave. With His grace, He has trampled your guilt underfoot….like, forever! With His love He has captured and overwhelmed your souls. NOW, because of that, only one response is fitting. Hand Him the sword of your life as if to say: ‘All I am and have is Yours!'”

This past weekend we wrapped up our MEAN TO series with an invitation to heed Paul’s charge. Because, listen Church….we have glimpsed and tasted a mercy beyond tracing. We cannot NOT respond with all we have.  It’s impossible to truly rest in His finished work and not be fully moved to run with all we are.

So….we want to MEAN TO RUN further and faster for Christ this year. He has been too good for us to do anything less than hand over our lives as sacrifices that say, “We are Yours. We will do all You say.”

And as we do, I can’t even begin to imagine how disappointed Regret will feel in December. I can’t even fathom how different our county will be. But, most of all, I can’t pre-celebrate enough just how much praise will rise to the very heavens from which mercy fell.

SO….what does that all look like at Mission Point? How can you jump in and be a part of that kind of year?

Take a moment to watch the video segments below as we share 4 practical ways in which we are inviting you to run with us in response to His mercy.

Using My Skills in Service

What skills has God given to you? How might we discover them?

Are you using your skills to serve others? Which ones? How?

Giving My Stuff in Generosity

God gives generously to us so we in turn are able to meet the needs of those around us and to advance His kingdom. How are you a heavenly distributor? How are you channeling God’s resources through you to others?

How do you plan to give? Do you have a particular percentage or plan for how you are generous to ensure it happens?

God is our supplier, enabling us to be generous. How have you experienced Him as a supplier recently?

Sharing My Self in Community

Who do you connect with in some form of community?

Who speaks into your life…reminding you of God’s mercy and encouraging you to run?

Who do you remind and encourage?

Telling His Story in Outreach

Jesus has given us the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. How are you doing with those marching orders?

Who have you shared the gospel with in the last few months?

What keeps you from sharing? Does it change your perspective to view sharing as a response to God’s mercy? A sacrifice of gratitude?
