We are all busy. Many times we are busy doing really great things. I don’t know about you, but sometimes in that busyness I can miss the point. Often times in the activity of church, we lose our focus and perspective. In the work of loving our community and inviting everyone, everywhere to life in Christ, it’s easy to slip into task mode and miss out on relationships. Tragically we can not only miss truly connecting with people, we can miss out on connecting with the heart of God. Growing up, my youth pastor used to say, “When doing the work of the Lord, don’t forget the Lord of the work.”
Each month at Mission Point we launch a serving opportunity that we call LoveOps. As a church it’s our opportunity and operation to tangibly put the love of Jesus on display for our county. We have been so privileged to see God use this movement to do beautiful things in our community. We have no intention of stopping this exciting work. In fact, as we prepare for our move to the Warsaw Performing Arts Center, we anticipate that LoveOps are going to continue to grow. But in our desire to serve Kosciusko county, we don’t want to miss the point. We don’t want to miss out on connecting with people and forming meaningful relationships. We also don’t want to miss out on truly connecting with Jesus.
So this month, we are shifting our LoveOp to a different kind of work. A work that will cause us to slow down and do a little more listening as we place ourselves before the throne of God. For the month of June we want to serve our county through a movement of prayer. We are asking God to move and do the things that only He can do in the lives and hearts of people. We want to recalibrate our hearts to the heart of Jesus. We want to beg and plead with Him to change us and change our county for His glory and fame.
We are asking you to join us for 25 days of prayer for Kosciusko county.
It’s simple and yet we believe it’s the most important thing we could be doing as a church. You can get started by doing three simple things that will take you less than 5 minutes.
- CLICK HERE to sign up for a one hour time slot (feel free to claim multiple slots!) where you commit to pray. Please do not let “one hour” of prayer scare you away. Our desire is that you would pray as the Spirit leads you, whether that’s for 5 minutes or over an hour. Just pray sometime during your designated hour!
- Set a personal reminder on your calendar or in your phone so that you don’t forget.
- CLICK HERE to download our 25 day prayer guide. Find your specific day and spend time praying for that focused item. However, please feel the freedom to pray through multiple things that stand out to you!
Are you in?
Be creative. Take advantage of times that work for you. Do it first thing when you normally wake up. Do it last thing right before going to bed. Do you have a newborn that wakes you up in the middle of the night? Maybe you work third shift and could pray during your break time. What about your lunch hour? What if you and your family committed to pray together right after dinner? You and your friends could pray while going on a walk.
Whatever you choose, I believe it’s a simple investment of time that you will not regret.
Towards the end of our PrayerOp, we will gather at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center on Thursday, June 30th from 7:00-8:00pm. We look forward to seeing you there as we come together to pray.
