Orphan & Vulnerable Children (OVC) Care

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” – James 1:27a

We are so grateful for how our people are responding to God’s invitation to care for the millions of unwanted, unclaimed and uncared for children in our world. It is humbling to be part of a church that is already so eager and committed to taking up the cause of hurting kids everywhere. We hear of the beautiful ways you are shifting their stories and shaping their futures…from joining the Foster Care movement…to sponsoring children internationally…to bringing kids permanently into your home….to supporting adoptive families. We want to do a better job supporting and encouraging you as you engage the vulnerable and defenseless. For those of you who long to be a part of God’s passion for the orphan, but are not sure how….we would love to connect you to opportunities and resources to get you started.

Again, there are many ways to partner with God in caring for The Orphan, but the one thing we know is that we will be most effective as we do it together. Here are some ways we can collaborate together!

One Such Child Adoption Group – OSC is a group that meets to provide encouragement and resources to households who find themselves on the orphan care journey. Whether you are considering or actively involved in foster care or adoption, you are invited to attend! The group meets next on Sunday, December 17th from 4:30-6:30pm at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center (1 Tiger Lane, Warsaw). Childcare is provided. For more information, please contact Amy Smith: onesuchchild@gmail.com

Foster Care Closet – Are you preparing to bring a foster child into your home? Or are you clearing out some baby gear that has been outgrown by someone in your home? We have a Foster Care Closet that supplies local foster families with supplies (like carseats, toys, strollers, etc.) to ease the transition and costs of having a child join their home. These items are available to be borrowed for however long the child is in the home. For more information about what items are available or needed, please contact our Mission Coordinator, Jamie Koser at: jamie@missionpoint.net
Meal Ministry – Do you enjoy making meals or baking items for others? We have a team of folks who are on hand to make food for families who are recently adjusting to the addition of a new foster or adoptive child. If you would like to learn more about how you can participate in this ministry, please contact our Mission Coordinator, Jamie Koser at: jamie@missionpoint.net

Laundry Ministry – Are you a laundry guru? Do you enjoy a sense of accomplishment from completing clean loads of laundry? Did you know you could use your skills to encourage foster and adoptive families? We have a team of folks who volunteer to do laundry for families who are adjusting to the addition of foster or adoptive children. If you would like to learn more about how you can participate in this ministry, please contact our Mission Coordinator, Jamie Koser at: jamie@missionpoint.net

Babysitting for Foster & Adoptive Families – We want to provide encouragement to families who have accepted additional children into their homes. Sometimes these parents would benefit from a window of time to pour into their previous children who may feel overlooked when a new child enters the home. Sometimes these parents need a few hours of adult only time to regroup as a parenting and marital team. Would you be interested in providing babysitting for these families on the front lines? We would cover your background check and ensure you have the tools you need for whatever house you are supporting. If you would like to learn more about how you can participate in this ministry, please contact our Mission Coordinator, Jamie Koser at: jamie@missionpoint.net
